Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative takes pride in being a local poultry operation in the Shenandoah Valley. The only thing that makes our business possible, is our farms. As a 100% grower owned cooperative, our growers are the lifeblood of our organization.
We are committed to family farming, as it is one of the things that sets us apart from other poultry producers. We began with the purpose of keeping turkey farming in the Shenandoah Valley, and we remain devoted to protecting local agriculture. Each turkey that comes through our plant comes from an independent, often second or third generation, family farm.
Each VPGC farm is a safe and clean environment. Our growers maintain environmental and nutrient management programs to help ensure we give back to the land whatever we may borrow.
VPGC birds are raised without exposure to danger or harm. Strict biosecurity programs implemented by each grower limits the risk of predators or disease. Our growers take every measure to ensure that our turkeys are raised humanely, so that we have a quality, fresh product to deliver to our customers.
Each one of our growers is committed to sustainable farming practices, and they undergo extensive animal welfare training annually. All of our farms are consistently audited by multiple third parties to ensure accountability, and VPGC is regularly recognized for meeting and exceeding industry best practices.
